Community Connectors provide practical, short-term help for people who want to take part in community life but are not sure where to start. The service is delivered through Alderstead Council and focuses on participation, local connections and finding the right support route.
How a Community Connector can help
A Connector can listen to what you are trying to do, help identify suitable local groups or activities, and explain which council or public service is responsible for a particular need. This can be useful if you are new to Alderstead, feel disconnected from local activity or simply do not know which organisation to approach.
The service can connect people with libraries, recreation, volunteering, community organisations, local wellbeing information and other established services. It is a bridge into existing services rather than a separate system that duplicates them.
What Community Connectors do not provide
Community Connectors do not provide therapy, carry out safeguarding investigations, make immigration or citizenship decisions, exercise police powers or supervise criminal sentences. If your need belongs to one of those specialist services, the Connector helps identify the correct route rather than trying to handle the case within the council.
