If you are not sure what local support or activity would help, a Community Connector can help you identify an appropriate starting point.
Before you contact us
Think about what you want help with, such as meeting people, joining an activity, finding a community organisation or understanding which public service deals with an issue. You do not need to know the name of the organisation you need.
What happens next
The Connector will consider the information you provide, identify suitable local or public-service routes and explain what you can do next. If your issue requires a specialist or statutory service, you will be directed to that service rather than kept within Community Connectors.
Information and consent
You should only need to provide information that is relevant to finding the right support. If connecting you with another organisation requires sharing personal information, the purpose and route should be clear. Where simple signposting is enough, the council can give you the information you need so that you can contact the organisation yourself.
Information you may need to provide
Tell the Connector enough to understand the type of help you are seeking and any practical barrier that is making it difficult to find support yourself. You should not need to provide unrelated personal information. If the best next step is simply to give you details of another organisation, the council can do that without creating a more detailed case than the service requires.
If a referral requires personal information to be shared, the purpose of the referral and the organisation receiving the information should be clear.
