Alderstead has community organisations, clubs, societies, resident groups, faith groups, voluntary organisations and other forms of civic activity. These groups can provide opportunities to meet people, volunteer and take part in local life.
Finding a group
Community Connectors can help identify groups or activities that fit what you are looking for. Where a group is independent of the council, responsibility for its activities, membership and governance remains with that organisation.
Information for organisations
Community organisations can use the council's community and volunteering services to understand relevant local information, participation opportunities and council contact routes.
Keeping listings useful
Information about a group should describe what it does and how people can find out more without implying council endorsement beyond the relationship that actually exists. If a group stops operating or materially changes its purpose, the public information should be corrected so Community Connectors are not directing residents to an obsolete route.
How group information is presented
Listings and signposting distinguish between council services and independent organisations. Working with the council, receiving funding or appearing on a council page does not by itself make an organisation part of Alderstead Council. This matters because the organisation remains responsible for its membership, governance, activities and any conditions that apply to participation.
If information about a group is no longer accurate, the council can correct the local listing or signposting route so residents are not sent to an obsolete service.
