Alderstead Council supports learners by helping them access local education provision and by coordinating the local-authority functions that sit around schools, colleges, Study Schools and the Learning Hub.
What local support includes
Support can include local education communication, authorised education records, accessibility, safeguarding escalation, education-place relationships and implementation of Department for Education standards at local level.
Safeguarding and specialist needs
The council follows the applicable safeguarding arrangements and escalates concerns to the competent service. It does not replace police investigation, clinical care or the Department for Education's national safeguarding-policy responsibility.
Getting help with access
If a learner is having difficulty accessing an Alderstead education service, explain which institution is involved and the barrier that is preventing participation. The council can then consider the local-authority function involved, including accessibility, communication or records. Academic decisions and national qualification rules remain with the responsible education institution or national body.

Safeguarding concerns are escalated through the applicable safeguarding arrangements rather than being treated as an ordinary customer-service issue.
