Alderstead's welcome and integration service helps people understand local civic life after the relevant national status or entry decisions have already been made. It is a local participation service, not an immigration or citizenship service.
Settling into local civic life
The council can help residents understand the local services available to them, find community organisations and activities, and identify opportunities to participate in libraries, recreation, volunteering, education and local democracy. Community Connectors can provide additional short-term help where a person would benefit from support making those connections.
National decisions remain national
Alderstead Council does not decide immigration status, citizenship, nationality or entry to United Hampshire. If a question concerns one of those national functions, the council directs the resident to the responsible authority rather than repeating or reopening the national casework.
Other local services
Integration is not intended to duplicate ordinary council services. Someone who needs education information should be connected with education; someone looking for community activity may be better served by Community Connectors, volunteering or recreation. The council uses the existing service that best fits the need.
