Alderstead Council publishes the formal record of its democratic meetings and decisions so that residents can see what is being considered, the information used by decision-makers and the outcome reached.
Before a meeting
Each meeting record identifies the body that is meeting and the business to be considered. An agenda sets out the items for the meeting. Reports provide the background, evidence, options, financial or legal considerations and recommendations that councillors need in order to consider the item properly.
Where material is exempt from publication, the public record identifies that the meeting is considering exempt business without publishing information that the council is not entitled to disclose.
At and after the meeting
Meetings are conducted under the council constitution and the procedural rules that apply to the relevant council body. Minutes record the formal business and decisions of the meeting. They are a record of what the council did; they are not intended to be a verbatim transcript of every contribution.
Some council decisions are taken through executive or officer delegations rather than at a committee meeting. Where a public decision record is required, it is published through the appropriate decision route.
Finding a record
Use the meeting body, date or subject to locate the record you need. If a published record is not available through the website, contact Democratic Services through Contact Alderstead Council and describe the meeting or decision as precisely as you can.
